In the 1920s, Nurse Caisse, from Canada, started this tea with only four herbs based on an ancient Canadian Ojibway Indian eight-herb formula. She provided this broad-based formula of roots and bark for many health conditions.
She came to the US to work with Dr. Charles Brusch at the Brusch Medical Center in Massachusetts. Not being herbalists, they spent eight years researching and changing the formula. The resulting product is an 8-herb formulation assumed to be reflecting the original formula by the Ojibway India formula.
As a lifelong herbalist, I can see the benefits and understand the actions of each of these herbs. I have also spoken to many people who took the original Essiac formula and can't say it worked for them. So, years ago, being in private practice, I made my formula for my clients and have modified and adjusted it a few times over the decades. The feedback from clients has been positive. Now, for the first time, I'm providing this formula with all organic indexing with the portions I have chosen for each herb.

Drink a couple cups a day
HOW TO USE: To make an herbal decoction (tea), add 1 TABLESPOON of dried herbs to ABOUT 5 CUPS OF WATER in a pot. Boil the water with the herbs then simmer for about 10 minutes or allow this too steep for about 30 minutes. Strain and cool to suitable drinking temperature. Honey can be added when its warm.
