L-Glutathione is a molecule that occurs naturally in the cells of our body. It consists of three amino acids (glutamic acid, cysteine and glycine) linked in the form of a tripeptide - a molecule with the chemical name γ-glutamyl-cysteinyl-glycine (γ-glu-cys-gly). In its molecule, in addition to carbon, hydrogen and nitrogen atoms, it contains a sulfur atom. Its chemical structure gives glutathione extremely strong antioxidant properties. Thanks to this, it protects our body against the effects of oxidative stress (excessive amount of free radicals, which can be caused by many factors, e.g. stress, environmental pollution, UV radiation or an unhealthy lifestyle). This protection can help lower the risk of many common health conditions.
